The Poplar Bluff Junior High football team became the Mules' first team to go unbeaten in consecutive season's with a 42-14 win over Sikeston at Morrow Stadium Thursday night.

The eighth grade Mules (5-0-1) scored six touchdowns against the Bulldogs to go undefeated in both years since the program added a seventh grade team in 2010 after finishing last year 6-0.

Poplar Bluff, which averaged 31 points per game and gave up just 9.6, opened the season with a 6-6 tie at Marion, Arkansas, before taking down Caruthersville 62-38 in its home opener. The Mules followed it up with a 47-8 win at Farmington, a 45-6 drubbing at Cape Central and a 26-0 shutout over Jackson last week.

"Great Team win last night. The kids played outstanding defense and executed really well offensively against a very physical Sikeston team," Mules coach Jason Lance said. "I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to coach so many talented, hardworking and dedicated kids. This has been a fun and exciting season."

The seventh grade Mules ended their home schedule on a high note as well, taking down the Bulldogs 24-6. Poplar Bluff (3-1) has added a game at Jackson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9
