ELLSINORE, Mo. -- Darrel Eugene Palmer, 74, son of the late Thelman and Arleta (McCarty) Palmer was born Nov. 15, 1942 in Doniphan, and departed this life Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017 at his residence in Ellsinore, with his wife by his side.
Darrel had resided in Ellsinore for the last 14 years and was formerly of Kansas City, Mo. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Before retirement, Darrel worked as a mechanic for Yellow Freight for 25 years and as a welder for American Body for 25 years. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, building things, and going hunting and fishing with his wife. When he was not able to hunt or fish, he enjoyed watching it on T.V. He was a good provider and always provided for his family. He was devoted to his wife of 56 years, and was a great husband.
On Aug. 31, 1961, he was united in marriage to Wanda Kester in Poplar Bluff; she survives of the home.
Survivors include one sister Retta McKnight of Poplar Bluff; his little buddy, Jason, and many relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Visitation will begin for the public at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at the McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Milburn Deaton will be officiating. Burial will be in Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley.
