PIEDMONT -- Faith Hoppe had her day at the net. Leading by one point in a decisive third set, the Tigers' middle hitter slipped her final kill over the net for match point as the Clearwater volleyball team knocked off Twin Rivers 2-1 (26-24, 20-25, 29-27) Tuesday night.
"This was a good win for us. The girls stayed focused in the end and finished the game," Clearwater coach Lisa Ayers said. "We have to continue to build on this to get ready for districts."
Hoppe finished with a match-high 13 kills and had a .733 hitting percentage to lead Clearwater (10-14-3).
Brittany Adams had 16 digs, Rachel Rowold added 13 digs while Brianna Lawson and Hoppe each had three blocks. Halle Gooch had 15 assists.
Katelyn South led Twin Rivers (20-5-2) with 14 kills and 14 digs. Hannah Finley added seven kills and six blocks while Brooke Blume had 11 kills, 36 digs and four blocks.
Malden 2, Caruthersville 0 (25-17, 25-8)
Lexi Campbell served up 11 aces as the second-seeded Wave rolled past the Tigers in the opening round of the Bootheel Conference Tournament.
Madi Earnheart added four kills, Lana Reed had three blocks and Lydia Harris finished with 21 assists for Malden (19-7-1).
