BERNIE -- The Bernie Mules opened their fall tournament with a 21-1 win over Bloomfield in five innings.

Wyatt Barnett and Weston Comstock hit back-to-back home runs for Bernie (17-2) to start the game. Barnett finished with three hits and five RBIs as Bernie had 14 hits as a team.

Nate Dillinger and Blake Beacham both pitched in the win.

The Mules will face Neelyville at 6 p.m. today for the championship.

East Carter 10, Naylor 0

Dalton Rudd tripled while Cody Hampton doubled twice and tossed a two-hitter as the Redbirds run-ruled their conference foes at home.

Rudd had four RBIs while Drew Asher went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Jake Andrews was 3 for 4 and five other players had a hit for East Carter (14-4). Hampton struck out three and walked three to get the complete-game win.

Cody Jones had one of two hits for Naylor (4-13).

Lesterville 7, Greenville 5

The Bears scored five runs in the third inning but couldn't muster any more in a home loss to the Bearcats.

Noah Surratt doubled and had two RBIs while Clay Russell drove in a run with a walk. Jack Becker and Dylan Barks added a hit apiece for Greenville (2-9).

Warren Willard gave up six earned runs on 10 hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out six in the loss. Hayden McDaniel allowed one run on a hit in his 1 1/3 innings of relief and recorded a strikeout.

SOFTBALL

Cape Central 7, Neelyville 2

Madison Dollins hit a solo home run to pace the visiting Tigers in the loss.

Payton Reinbott went the distance in the circle for Neelyville (5-14). She surrendered four earned runs and recorded seven strikeouts and three walks.

East Prairie 16, Twin Rivers 2

Brittany Williams went 3 for 3 and Madison Chavez drove in the lone RBI in the Lady Royals' road loss to the Eagles.

Abbey Hester was 2 for 3 and Kaitlin Deken added the only other hit for Twin Rivers (2-13).

Hester and Bella Galloway gave up a combined nine earned runs while Deken struck out one in a scoreless final frame.

VOLLEYBALL

Clearwater 2, Greenville 0 (18-25, 25-18, 25-17)

Faith Hoppe hammered 11 kills and Brianna Lawson added nine as the Lady Tigers beat their Wayne County rivals at home.

Brittany Adams had five kills, Halle Gooch chipped in six, Elizabeth Gronski had four and Rachel Rowold added three.

"This was a good win for us against a good county rival," Clearwater coach Lisa Ayers said. "The girls were a little hesitant in the first set but came out and played better in the second and third set.

Bloomfield 2, Oran 0

(25-12, 25-11)

Bailey Below finished with five aces, 11 kills, three blocks and three digs to lead the Lady Wildcats on Monday. Cayla Mayberry and Jewell Chism each had six kills. Chism also had 11 digs and three aces.

Kaley Roper led the defense with 12 digs while Nicole Roper finished with 30 assists and seven digs.
