After a rain delay suspended its match against Sikeston two days earlier, the Poplar Bluff tennis team resumed play Friday beating the Bulldogs 6-3 for their third win of the season.
"All the girls played very well," Mules coach Charles Harper said. "Proud of everyone's work."
Caitlin Dollins and Victoria Ward came back from being down 1-6 to beat Alyssa Hillis and Kristina Frazier 8-6 in doubles. Sara Holland and Mya White took down Claire Hamlin and Reagan Collins 8-0 while Shelbey Johnson and Kaitlyn Lloyd dropped their doubles match in a tiebreaker.
Holland, The Mules' No. 1 player and Mya White each won their singles matches to give Poplar Bluff (3-7) a 4-1 advantage prior to the rain delay Wednesday.
Johnson returned to the court Friday, taking down Hodges 8-2 before White beat Collins 8-3 to guarantee the Mules a victory.
Poplar Bluff also competed in the inaugural SEMO Conference Tournament Friday.
Holland won her opening round match 8-1 over Jackson's Katelyn Fehr before being dropped by Kennett's Emma Phillips in the quarterfinals.
Johnson was elminated early after an 8-4 loss to Jackson's Lexie Clements, as was the doubles team of Dollins and Ward. Kaitlyn Lloyd and White managed to defeat Dexter in doubles play 8-4 but only won one game against Kennett in the quarterfinals.
Notre Dame's Grace Powderly took first in the singles tournament while Kennett's Anna-Beth Williams and Kayton Harris beat out teammates Darcy Campbell and Sydni McAtee for the doubles title.
