VAN BUREN, Mo. -- James Earnest Oesch, 73, son of the late Eugene Karr and Minnie Captola (Rodebush) Oesch was born Nov. 28, 1943, in Doniphan, and departed this life on Sept. 14, 2017 at the Riverways Nursing Home in Van Buren.

Jim had resided in Van Buren for most of his lifetime, but grew up in Wilderness until the age of 18, where he then proudly joined the United States Army and served for four years. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Van Buren. He attended the University of Missouri where he attained a bachelor's degree in Animal Husbandry, he later taught an AG class to Veterans in Van Buren. From 1979 to 2013, he worked for HR Quadri Construction where he retired as a supervisor. Jim was a humble, hardworking, honest man who was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Jim was a resourceful, talented man who could fabricate anything. He loved his family, kids, grandkids and children in general. He was a great role model to his family and friends.

In June 1966, he was united in marriage to Christina Kay Gossett in Oak Grove, Mo. She preceded him in death, April 6, 2014.

Survivors include two sons: Patrick Oesch (Lisa) of Fremont, Mo., and Jeremy Oesch (Amanda) of Benton, Mo; two brothers: Tom Oesch and Phil Oesch (Dianne) of Wilderness, Mo; a sister, Barbara Smith (Cordal) of Van Buren: four grandchildren: Hailey, Holden, Brody, Avery and many relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

Visitation will begin for the public at 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Van Buren, with the funeral services being held at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 in the Church Chapel. Rev. Jim Cooper will be officiating. Burial: Wilderness Cemetery in Wilderness.
