FISK, Mo. -- John Martin Elliott, 86, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Fisk, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017 at his son's residence, in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Elliott was born Oct. 3, 1930 in Callaway County, Mo., son of the late Henry Martin and Lillie M. (Gauby) Elliott. He was a farmer and mechanic. Mr. Elliott was a Paratrooper and an Atomic Soldier serving in the Army during the Korean War.
On May 5, 1952, he married Areva Arnell Arnold. She preceded him in death, June 6, 2015. He is survived by two sons: Mike Elliott and wife Sherry of Poplar Bluff, and Kenneth "Gene" Elliott and wife Michelle of Poplar Bluff; two daughters: Donna Sue McElroy of Poplar Bluff and Gayla Elliott of Fisk; three sisters: Shirley Stanford of Fisk, Myra Dever of Dresden, Tenn., Marie Williams of Hillsboro, Mo: two brothers: Roy Elliott of Granbury, Texas and James Elliott of Festus, Mo; 6 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter: JonAnn Martin; three brothers: Gerald, Walter and Douglas Elliott; and one sister: Juanita Davis.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Brown Chapel Cemetery at Broseley.
