Tom and Eileen Melton of Doniphan will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Sunday, Aug. 13. They were married by Rev. Gubi at Rochester, Ind. in 1952 and traveled the world for a few years but have made their home in Ripley County for the past 40 years.
The Meltons will celebrate their special anniversary with family and friends from 1 - 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13 at First Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Doniphan.
The celebration is being hosted by their daughters and First Christian Church.
The Meltons have three daughters, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, but only two daughters make their home in Missouri. Jaren lives in Cape Girardeau and Janice White in Doniphan.
The Meltons' other daughter, Cathy Kidd, resides in Bend, Oreg.
Eileen, the daughter of the late Bob and Gladys Thomas of Rochester, Ind., is a retired wildlife and nature artist, a member of the VFW and Missouri Wildlife Artists Society.
Tom, the son of the late Bernard and Sylvia Melton of McRoberts, Ky., is a retired U.S. Army officer and is also a member of the VFW.
Both Tom and Eileen are active members of First Christian Church of Doniphan where Tom is an elder, chairman of the board and a lay-minister. Eileen has held offices such as a deaconess, member of the board and chairman of the membership and evangelism committee. They were both also in the First Christian Church choir.
