FARMINGTON, Mo. -- A Friday morning autopsy confirmed a Rombauer, Mo., man died from the gunshot allegedly fired by his older sister during an apparent argument at their shared home.
During the autopsy at a Farmington hospital, Dr. Russell Deidiker found Michael Leslie, 47, died as the result of a gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to Butler County Coroner Andy Moore.
The final autopsy report is pending, which will include toxicology results, Moore said. Those results typically take six to eight weeks to be returned.
Leslie died Wednesday afternoon inside the 189 Burrough St. home he shared with his sister, Judith Kimbrell, 51, and her 19-year-old son.
According to Kimbrell's statement, she and her brother had been arguing over finances involving a water bill, and Leslie allegedly had punched her in the face and shoulder.
"She told him if he ever put his hands on her again, it would be the last time," Butler County Investigator Randle Huddleston earlier said. "She stated he swung another punch at her face.
"She dodged out of the way, and at that point, she went to her bedroom and retrieved the firearm and fired one round into Leslie," who was in the kitchen at the time.
The shot, Huddleston said, was fired from the entry way to the kitchen, from a distance of four to five feet.
The gun, a 9mm semiautomatic pistol, reportedly was found in Kimbrell's bedroom in a dresser drawer.
During an interview with deputies, Kimbrell's son reportedly corroborated most of his mother's account of what had happened on Wednesday.
Due to multiple health issues, Kimbrell was not incarcerated following her interview with deputies.
"We're continuing to compile the facts and evidence of this case to determine whether charges will be sought or not," Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs said.
