Sarabeth EdaCheril, 18, of Doniphan, has been awarded a $500 study grant from the Ripley County Livestock Producers Association to help underwrite her health sciences studies at Three Rivers College. The grant fund is administered by the Three Rivers Community College Foundation.
EdaCheril is a 2017 graduate of Doniphan High School, where she was active in a variety of organizations, including Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America, Drama Club and Art Club. She was chosen to attend Missouri Girls State of 2016, was an Honor Roll student and an after-school tutor. She also volunteers at Lean On Me Food Pantry.
She is the daughter of Paul and Lillygrace EdaCheril, of Doniphan.
In her application essay, EdaCheril wrote that her parents, originally from India, are U.S. citizens and have lived in Doniphan for almost 20 years. "My family instilled in me the values of responsibility, determination and perseverance to be successful in life," she said. "No matter the obstacles, I persist . . . just as my family has done," she added.
EdaCheril is planning to get a TRC associate degree in either nursing or occupational therapy, then work toward a bachelor's degree and - ultimately - a medical degree, specializing in pediatrics.
Her study grant is being distributed from a fund established in 2002 by the Ripley County Livestock Producers Association to help graduates of Doniphan and Naylor High Schools further their studies.
The TRCC Foundation is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt corporation offering donors substantial tax deductions for their contributions.
