'Building a Better Community' is the theme for the Puxico Public Library's Summer Reading Program and Tuesday, July 18, the theme for the weekly story hour was construction and how it takes a village to raise a child.
After Librarian JoLeah Tettleton read the story the children created crafts and participated in worksheets.
Snacks were provided by the Puxico Press and followed along with the theme of construction with snacks such as cheese balls posed as wrecking balls, pretzel sticks posed as nails, and rice crispy treats made into paint brushes along with drinks. A tote of LEGOs was donated to the library for the children to use in building.
Tettleton reminded the surrounding families participating in the Summer Reading Program stating, "The logs may be turned in at any time, but the FINAL DAY is July 28 by noon. Late sheets will not be taken."
The summer reading program party will be hosted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3. Those who have completed the program are invited to attend a fun-filled event with snacks and prizes donated by businesses in the local community.
