To the Editor,

Something that I was talking to my granddaughter, Beta, about recently, is something that I think we should talk to our children and grandchildren about. That it is so wonderful that we live in the United States of America.

There are millions and millions of children that have never known a day that their country is not at war with another country. I often wonder if the leaders of these countries ever think about the way they are leading their countries are affecting the children of their country. I really do not think they care one bit about their children.

I remember that a lot of the wives appeared to not like the moving around and living in other countries. I enjoyed that so very much. And buying things from the countries we lived in. I would not have had things to put in a museum and had not been able to write a book. Having this museum and writing a book helps me to remember the happy times. I remember happy things, and lovely people every day. And found that Mothers are about the same around the world.

I have thought that the world appeared to be very sane and sensible back when we were traveling, compared to what it is now!! One thing that I really enjoyed to do was, when people would mentioned that they really hated to leave their church, I would tell them that someone had told me that God was all over the world. Not just in the little town they had lived in in the United States. And one thing that I never was was be an "ugly American."

I enjoyed the churches we went to in Canada both times we lived in Canada. I didn't go to church in South Africa. I just could not understand how they could get up and preach about God's love, when they treated a lot of their countrymen like they were not even human. I had a terrible time keeping my mouth shut a lot of times. I read that it is a lot better now, for which I am so thankful.

Just remember that living in the United States is a great thing. And always remember to do something every day to make the country better. If you have the chance to do that.
