O'FALLON, Mo. -- Chance Holden of Dexter is tied for second, two shots behind the leader, heading into the final round of the Missouri Stroke Play Championships.
Holden followed up a 1-under-par first round with an even-par round Tuesday at WingHaven Country Club and is tied with three others.
Jeremy Franklin of St. Louis leads at 3-under heading into today's final round.
Brian Whitson of Dexter is tied for 28th at 8-over after a 1-over first round and is the only other local player to make the 60-player cut after two rounds.
Holden was 2-over heading to the back nine before consecutive birdies and three straight pars. A birdie on the par-3 15th set up a par-bogey-birdie finish to get to 1-under. He opened the tournament 2-over after four holes Monday before playing the final 14 holes 3-under with no bogeys for a 71.
Holden is tied with Alex Cusumano of St. Louis, Kyle Szyhowski of St. Charles and Chris Kovach of St. Louis with two players tied for sixth at 1-over.
WOMEN'S AMATEUR
Poplar Bluff's Analeise Pyland is tied for 40th heading into the final round of the 87th Missouri Women's Amateur Championship at Algonquin Country Club in Glendale, Missouri.
Pyland sits at 32-over after a first round that featured eight pars and a second round with a birdie on the par-4 second hole to go with five pars.
Kayla Eckelkamp of Washington and Jess Meek of Columbia are tied for the lead at 6-over, three shots ahead of Emily Goldenstein of Chesterfield.
