ELLSINORE, Mo. -- Wanda "Edwina" Carnahan, Edwina as all knew her daughter of the late William Thomas and Ora Mae (Berry) Roark, was born July 26, 1929 in Ellsinore, Mo.; and departed this life Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Oakdale Care Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She had attained the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 13 days.
Edwina had resided in Poplar Bluff for the past five years and was formerly of Ellsinore, Mo. She was a Deputy District Grand Matron, and Worthy Matron of Grandin Order of the Eastern Star. She had taught school at Freeland School, and had worked as an administrator for Sheltered Workshop. She had also worked at Gossard Garment Factory at Poplar Bluff for 23 Years. She was a strong willed, very caring person who liked to help others. She had a great sense of humor and liked to play jokes on people. Edwina was of the Baptist faith, and had attended the Harmony General Baptist Church in Ellsinore, Mo.
On Jan. 9, 1949, she was united in marriage to Earnest Carnahan Jr.; he preceded her in death on April 29, 2012.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Carnahan and wife Kathy of Ellsinore; one daughter-n-law, Sandy Carnahan of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Jessie Boyer of Ellsinore; and many relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by one son Donnie Carnahan.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 at McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore, Mo.; with the funeral service being held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 in the funeral home chapel. Rev. John Crowley will be Officiating. Burial will be in Kearbey Cemetery in Ellsinore.
