Emma Jean Mitchell (Little), 68, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Emma was born Oct. 19, 1948 in Webb, Miss. to Beatrice Little and the late William "Bud" Little.
After working at Lucy Lee Hospital for 14 years, Emma retired as a CNA. Before becoming a homemaker with Independent Living Center, she enjoyed being a cook and portraying great fun to customers on a daily basis at County Mart Grocery Store. Emma loved playing Bingo and spending time with friends and family. Emma's passion was having a green thumb, being able to grow ANYTHING.
Emma leaves her precious memories and moments of laughter to her three sons, Rickey Bryant (Lois) of Kansas City, Mo., Byron Bryant (Amber) and Patrick Bryant (Angel), both of Poplar Bluff. Also left to treasure Emma's memories is her loving mother, Beatrice Little of St. Louis and 12 sisters and brothers: Alvin Ray Snerling (Lisa), Leon Little (Sue), George Little (Muriel), Lee Little (Shantele), all of St. Louis; Elizabeth Collins (Robert) Lee Summit, Mo., Kenneth Little and Evaline Lumpkin, both of Kansas City, Mo., Elaine Dodson (Mark) Blue Springs, Mo., Tim Little, Grandview, Mo., Malissa Woodberry, Leawood, Mo., Debra Riley (Robert), Lawton, Okla. and Charles Little (Janette) of Poplar Bluff. Emma also leaves her sweet memories to Thurston Mitchell, surrogate father to her three sons, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Emma was preceded in death by a daughter, Falisia Bryant; her father, William "Bud" Little; and two brothers, Eric Little and Robert Little.
Visitation will be at noon Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Lively Stone Church of God, 522 Relief St.. The celebration of life service will begin at 1 p.m.
