PIGGOTT, Ark. -- John Wyatt Mitchem, 94, of Ellsinore, Mo., passed away June 26, 2017, at his home near Ellsinore.
He was born July 25, 1922, in Trumann, Ark., and was the son of the late Shermon James and Lela Estelle (Lowery) Mitchem.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Glenda Lucille (Hicks) Mitchem, Feb. 3, 1998.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Donald Ray Mitchem; daughter, Linda Sue Rousan; two infant children; two brothers, Jim "Shorty"and Lois Mitchem; sisters: Nelda, Thelma and Ruby.
He served in the United States Army during WWII.
Survivors include his children: William "Bill" Mitchem, Johnny Anthony Mitchem, Donnetta June Teschke, Judith Ann McDaniel, Barbara Jean Dyle, James Richard Mitchem, Carol Lynn Winebargar, Joe Wayne Mitchem, Cynthia Kay Blurton, and Robert Timothy Mitchem; 37 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Visitation is Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017, in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Mike Miller officiating. Burial is in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Ark. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
