NEELYVILLE, Mo. -- Betty Sue Cullum, 69, of Zalma, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Puxico Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Cullum was born Aug. 12, 1948 in Parma. She worked at a shoe factory for Missouri Industries in Dexter, and enjoyed horseback riding, country music, dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
In January of 1965, Betty married James Richard Cullum. He preceded her in death, Feb. 5, 1997.
Also preceding her in death were her parents: James and Vernie McCarthy; two step-children: Sheila Kay Mims and Christina Cullum; and a brother, James "Bub" William McCarthy.
Betty is survived by her children: Richard Alvis Cullum of Zalma, Julia Lavell Stroup & husband Kenneth of Zalma, and Kaye Brundage of N.C.; a sister, Janie Bates of Wappapello; three brothers: James Edward McCarthy, Lynn McCarthy, both of Mountain View, Mo., and Jeffery Dan McCarthy of Malden; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services will take place on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The funeral will follow at
1 p.m. in the Chapel with Donnie Fowler officiating. Burial will take place at Rosewood Cemetery in Malden.
