The Summer Reading Program at the Puxico Public Library kicked off in June and will end Friday, July 28, Library Director JoLeah Tettleton told the board recently at its quarterly meetings.
Around $900 of prizes have been donated with all prizes being age appropriate to the distinct age categories, along with Bills Market donating refreshment for the Summer Reading Program Party. The party will be hosted Thursday, Aug. 3, at the Puxico Public Library.
She strongly stated that no forms would be accepted after the cutoff date of July 28. So far 18 Prekindergarten through first grade have registered along with 54 second through fifth grade and 12 sixth grade and up.
Talk of replacing board members who have dropped the board or left the precinct took place although no final decisions were made. The book club is continuing to go well and at the moment the book, Across the Universe, a Teen Sci-Fi can be picked up to be read.
Business was regarding the children's room in the new downstairs addition. Although the room has been set up and Tettleton has been using it for several months for Story Hour and other activities, she could use volunteers to help keep the area picked up. At this time volunteers are strongly needed and much appreciated. Along with Tettleton, board president Harlan Lamb, treasurer Stan Crisel, and member Sandra Kilbreth were present.
The next board meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12.
