Nadine Johnson was hostess for the Agee Community Club meeting and picnic luncheon Friday, June 9, at her home.
President Cathy Womack gave the invocation and the members repeated the club motto. Johnson read Devotional from the BBI BULLETIN, My Biography of Dr. W. Edward Bedore, editor, about his moving from California to Missouri as a young boy with his family and younger brother. He then went to several churches and was taught the law that was for Israel. He became a rebel and after 21 years decided to go back to church and was then taught the Grace Message Christ gave to Paul for the Gentiles. He knew he would see Christ and not the Devil.
June is Fathers Day so club members answered roll with "Things our dad taught us as we grew up."
Jeanie Figgins read the secretary's report and Johnson gave the treasury report. Nickey Orton read the poem Orel Smith has in her poem book "Don't you wish you were a bird." Orton will be the July hostess.
Johnson's lesson taken from Woman's Day Magazine included "Boston Cream Cupcakes," "Pineapple Upside Down Cake Small Ones" and "Waste Less Save More" What to put in the refrigerator and what not too." Johnson passed out magazines.
Figgins won the door prize and each member took home M&M Candies.
Each member read from the Black River Times. Johnson read the quote from former President Harry Truman "You can't get rich in politics unless you're a crook." Orton read, "A Father who carries pictures in his wallet where his money used to be." Figgins read "Fools or Faithful Fathers" and Womack read "What is a dad?"
