Many years have gone by since Poplar Bluff native Bill Morrow made a promise to his mother.

Morrow had decided to follow in his father's footsteps and be an educator. His dad is the late Fred Morrow, who served several years as superintendent of Poplar Bluff schools. The former football stadium is named after him.

Though Lois has been deceased several years, Bill Morrow never forgot his promise. Next week, he will fulfill that vow.

For several years now, Bill Morrow has worked for the Las Vegas, Nevada, school district. It is the fifth largest in the nation with more than 18,000 employees.

The district will be holding its annual teacher retirement luncheon on Friday, June 23. Not only will he be officially retiring, he will be one of the event's featured speakers.

Though Bill Morrow is ending his days in the classroom, he is finding it hard to completely retire. He is still doing some consulting work with new teachers.
