QULIN, Mo. -- James "Pepper" Rhodes, 80, of Broseley, died Monday, June 12, 2017 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Rhodes was born Feb. 15, 1937 in Corning, Ark., son of the late James Luther and Ruth Rhodes. He owned and operated Rhodes Farm Supply in Qulin for several years. He also was a self-employed truck driver. He enjoyed deer hunting, Cardinals Baseball, Royals Basketball and spending time with his family.
On Sept. 8, 1962 he married Dorothy Ruff. She survives. Also surviving are five daughters: Ronda Sentell (Scott) of Qulin, Debbie Steger (Matt) of Casa Grande, Ariz., Jamie Douglas (Tim) of Poplar Bluff, Julie Crain (Shannon) of Mountain Grove, Mo., and Kristi Thurman (Robert) of Fisk; two brothers: Ron Rhodes of Cherokee Village, Ark. and Roy Rhodes of Homerville, Ga.; one sister: Dana Sue Robbins of Marion, Ark.; 13 grandchildren: Eric (Jessica) Sentell, Whitney Stanford, Jordan (Robert) Mathews, Dustin (Hannah) Maxwell, Jacob Steger, Braden Steger, Mallory Douglas, Mason Douglas, Madison Crain, Chloe Crain, Isaac Thurman, Emma Thurman, and Eli Thurman; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at White-Sanders Funeral Home, Qulin. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jared Hancock officiating.
Burial will be in Corning City Cemetery at Corning, Ark.
