Stacey Gibson Steffens, 49, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. Frances Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Stacey Gibson Steffens, 49, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. Frances Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Stacey, the daughter of Ron and Linda Brenneman Gibson, was born Sept. 5, 1967 in Kansas City, Mo. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Stacey graduated from high school in Norborne, Mo. and later received her Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo. She worked as a special needs school teacher for the Green County School System and later worked as a substitute teacher in Poplar Bluff for six years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Upsilon Sorority. Stacey enjoyed spending time with her family and friends on Current River, painting and reading.

On Jan. 20, 1996, she married Greg Steffens at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Blackburn, Mo.

Survivors include two children, Colin Steffens and Cassidy Steffens of Poplar Bluff; her parents, Ron and Linda Gibson; a brother, Todd (Sharon) Gibson, all of Norborne, Mo.; and a special friend who cared for her during her illness, Ray Bryan of Poplar Bluff.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Marty Reed officiating. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Norborne, Mo. with Pastor Kim L. Scharff officiating.
