NEELYVILLE, Mo. -- Betty Mae Turner, 89, of Naylor, Mo., passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Turner was born on Feb. 28, 1928 in Naylor, Mo. NEELYVILLE, Mo. -- Betty Mae Turner, 89, of Naylor, Mo., passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Turner was born on Feb. 28, 1928 in Naylor, Mo. She worked as an elementary teacher for the Naylor R2 School District for 30 years and two years at the Buncombe School. She enjoyed traveling, floating Current River, reading and cooking. She was a member of the Naylor United Methodist Church where she was the secretary and treasurer and taught Vacation Bible School.

On Sept. 25, 1948 she married Clyde Turner in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He survives.

Also surviving are her children, Kathy Pearson and husband Leslie of Poplar Bluff, Mary Baker and husband Fred of Poplar Bluff, and Nancy Compton and husband James of Delaplaine, Ark.; four grandsons, Jeremy, Shane, Nathan, and Jerrod; as well as seven great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Della Batten and three brothers, Bob, Bill and Alvie Batten.

Visitation will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel with Paula Moore officiating and Aaron Neugebauer as the assisting minister. Burial will be held at the Naylor Memorial Cemetery.
