CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Saint Francis Medical Center has been named one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience by the Women's Choice Award®, America's trusted referral source for the best in healthcare. Saint Francis Medical Center is the only facility in Cape Girardeau County to receive this award recognizing hospitals that have demonstrated the highest level of quality patient care, the only national recognition that focuses on female patient satisfaction.
Saint Francis has been ranked within the top 100 hospitals of similar size based on number of beds, and is one of 400 award recipients representing hospitals that have met the highest standards for patient experience in the United States by the Women's Choice Award. Additionally, the Medical Center is the only recipient to win this award in Cape Girardeau County, which means area women can make more informed decisions for themselves and loved ones.
The Women's Choice Award signifies women's preferences and outstanding clinical performance, and shows Saint Francis' commitment to women's health. The methodology used to select the Medical Center is unique in that it evaluates specific Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey results, along with primary research about women's healthcare preferences. Data collected for the following HCAHPS survey measure is used for a weighted average to award the best hospitals for patient experience: effective communication with nurses and doctors, responsiveness to requests for help, pain management, explanation about medications before being administered, bathroom and room cleanliness and patient recommendation rating.
