ELLSNORE, Mo. -- Norma Hampton, daughter of the late Clyde Ottis and Thelma Edith (Raymer) Norman, departed this life on May 15, 2017.

Norma was raised in Ellsinore, Mo., and she loved to travel, explore and she especially loved new experiences. Her travels took her from Missouri to Illinois and then to Arizona. She returned to her hometown of Ellsinore in the spring of 2014. No matter where Norma lived or traveled she always lived by two guiding principles; philanthropy and mentoring. There are many throughout the country who have benefited from her wisdom and assistance.

Norma married Charles B. Hampton in October 1954 and they set out for St. Louis which was the beginning of her many adventures and the foundation for her future life.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters: Dorthea Sewell and Martha "Beatrice" Patterson.

Her survivors include one brother, Alvin "Bud" Norman of Ellsinore; two daughters: Sherry and her husband Bruce Schlee of Nashville, Tenn., Liz Reynolds and her husband Paul Lafever of Ellsinore; three grandchildren: Lacy Petrekovich and her husband Jayson Passmore, Matthew Schlee, Joshua Schlee; two great-grandchildren: Brennan Tatum, Mason Passmore.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore, Mo. Burial will immediately follow at the Whites Mill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made in her name to the Ellsinore Youth Center.
