ELLSINORE -- Kody Orchard dropped down a bases-loaded squeeze bunt to give the East Carter baseball team a 1-0 walk-off win over Eminence in eight innings Thursday.
Hunter Berry, Corby Seib and Drew Asher, who schored the winning run, had the only other hits for East Carter (10-3). Asher also went the distance on the mound, striking out eight and only allowing three hits.
Malden 10, Bloomfield 7
Mason Brown belted a double and drove in three runs to lead the Green Wave past the Wildcats on the road.
Gavin Brstow and Tye Miller each added two hits and an RBI while Cordell Kilgore walked and scored twice for Malden (10-10). Three pitchers combined to get the win for the Green Wave.
Alex Gibbs and Luke Hector both went 2 for 4 for Bloomfield (8-11).
Greenville 10, South Iron 2
Jack Becker went 3 for 3 and Trey McDaniel went 2 for 4 with two RBIs to help the Bears secure a road win over the Panthers. Tye Huff picked up the win on the mound for Greenville (6-4).
Neelyville 12, Winona 2
The Tigers pounded out 12 hits led by Drayden French's two doubles, a single and five RBIs to defeat the host Wildcats in six innings.
Chaney Trout added three hits and drove in a run, Jesse Griffin was 2 for 4 with two RBIs while Peyton Hobbs, Wyatt Moon, Carter Petty and Warren Griffin had a hit apiece for Neelyville (9-12).
SOFTBALL
Malden 15, Bloomfield 4
Seven different players had hits and drove in runs as the Green Wave downed the host Lady Wildcats in five innings.
Anna Belcher led Malden (18-2) with three hits and an RBI. She also scored twice while Lexi Campbell, Gracie Thomas, Blake Tinsley and Desiree Perkins each had two hits.
Gracie Thomas struck out three and gave up two earned runs in 4 2/3 innings to get the win.
GOLF
The Mules placed third in a nine-hole match at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson, Missouri on Thursday to end the regular season.
Notre Dame edged Jackson by a stroke 160-161 while Poplar Bluff shot 162.
Justin Pierce led the Mules at 2-over-par 38 followed by Justin Capps (40), Nathan Woolard (41) and Ryan Bridgewater (43). Analeise Pyland shot 47 and Dylan Pierce 50 for Poplar Bluff, which won the conference title Monday by 16 shots over Notre Dame.
It was the final tune-up for the MSHSAA Class 4 District 1 playoff, which will be held Monday at Aberdeen Golf Course in Sunset Hills, Missouri.
