QULIN, Mo. -- Charles Wright Jr, 89, of Qulin, died Monday, April 24, 2017 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Wright was born Sept. 20, 1927 in Corning, Ark. to the late Charles and Lela (Spencer) Wright. He served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Wright was a Deacon at Osborn General Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school class for 28 years. As a Deacon he was active in the Eastern Union Association and Presbytery of General Baptist and had served as parliamentarian of the Presbytery for several years. He was a member of the former Cache Valley Saddle Club, had served on the Qulin School Board and had helped start the Qulin Homecoming. He enjoyed singing.
On Sept. 27, 1945, he married Margie Fowler; she preceded him in death, Jan. 20, 2017. Mr. Wright is survived by one daughter: Susan K. Gray of Overland Park, Kan.; two grandchildren: Jenifer Gray-O'Conner of Portland, Ore.; Jared Gray of Kansas City, Mo; two great-grandchildren: Fiona Gray-O'Conner of Portland, Ore., Avi Gray-O'Conner of Portland, Ore.; one sister: Helen M. Daffron of Saint Charles, and one brother: Franklin D. Wright of Qulin.
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by one brother: Arlie L. Wright Sr.; and three sisters: Reva Phipps, Sylvia Maddox, and Iolene Gibbs.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Book officiating.
Burial will be in Qulin Cemetery at Qulin.
