ELLSINORE, MO. -- Ernest Junior Powell, 67, of Grandin, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, in Doniphan, Mo.
He was the son of the late James Junior Powell and Beulah Jordan Powell Driskill. He was born June 12, 1944 in Sikeston, Mo. He had resided in Grandin since moving from Ellsinore in 1978. In 1988, he retired from his vocation as a truck driver and he and his wife, Bonnie, owned and operated Powell's One Stop. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and in earlier years jug fishing on the Mississippi River. He also enjoyed barbecuing.
On Oct. 3, 1964 he married Bonnie Ann Renner in New Madrid, Mo. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by four children; Rebecca Ann Powell and Debra Ann Lovell, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Denise Ann Strickland and her husband, Michael, of Bemidji, Minn. and William Ernest Powell and his wife, Laura, of Ellsinore; seven grandchildren; Coleton, Conner, Nicholas, Joshua, Zachary, Felicia and Jacob; his uncle, B Boy Powell of Ellsinore and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
