ELLSINORE, MO. -- Joanne Alcorn, 84, of Farmington, Mo. died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011 at her residence in Farmington, Mo.
Mrs. Alcorn was born Feb. 10, 1927 in Steeleville, Mo. Mrs. Alcorn had resided in Farmington since moving from St. Louis, Mo. in 1990. She grew-up in Ellsinore, Mo. and graduated from the Ellsinore High School in the Class of 1945. She was a retired accountant and formerly worked for the Brown Shoe Company in Clayton, Mo. She was a member of the Ellsinore Methodist Church. She loved to read and her father, a school teacher, taught her to read at the age of three. She also enjoyed the outdoors, flowers and little babies.
On Sept. 3, 1956 she was married to Percy E. Alcorn in Ellsinore. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Survivors include two sons, James M. Williamson of Farmington and Randal W. Williamson of Chicago, Ill.; two step-sons, Michael E. Alcorn of O'Fallon and Steven E. Alcorn of Crystal City, Mo.; one brother, Dr. Eugene D. Wingo of Newport, VA; two sisters, Jeannine Wingo of Ellsinore and Carol Sue Wingo of Ironton, Mo.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friend.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Methodist Church in Ellsinore. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Rick Hensley officiating. Burial will be in the Henson Cemetery.
