Hey old vet, gays are here
I am replying to the vet sad about the repeal of "Don't ask, don't tell." Well, as a veteran myself, all I can say is, "Old Timer, you're from a different generation." Your generation also probably found it shameful that women came into the military. Don't forget your generation also found it shameful that African-Americans were allowed to serve freely and openly and go through the ranks. Every generation has got some grip that they say will destroy the military. It is a different world now that I grew up. I know gay people, I know African-Americans, I know people who are in bi-racial relationships and that is not what is as important at the end of the day. What you personally have in your heart is not the same as what the love you have for your country. I'm sorry that, Old Timer, you can't tell the difference between today's world and the Leave It To Beaver World or the Jim Crow World you grew up in. I don't know which generation you are in, but this is war that's been going on for 10 years. And, you're only fooling yourself if you think you didn't serve with gays. You just didn't serve with gays who were allowed to be open with it. You know back then in your day they called gay men--bachelors, confirmed bachelors--wasn't that the code word for gays back in your day? Well, I'm sorry about all the changes the world has brought to you. But thankfully, the world is progressing. You may not like it, then don't do it. If you're against gay marriage don't marry a gay. That's all I have to say. God bless you, Old Timer, for whatever time you've got left in this world.
Emerson seeks union bailout
Yeah, I got this off the Internet. Our beloved Joan Emerson has posed legislation to bail out the retirement funds of the unions. Can't we do any better than that, folks? Thank you.
