BROSELEY -- Callee Pickrell was held in check on Tuesday, but not so much Thursday as Naylor beat Kennett 59-43 in the fifth place semifinal at the Lady Royals Christmas Classic.
The senior forward led Naylor (4-7) with 33 points, including a 10 for 14 performance at the free-throw line, after getting 15 in Tuesday's loss to Chaffee.
Naylor led by eight points going into the fourth quarter and doubled its lead before the final buzzer. Pickrell had 11 of Naylor's 21 points in the fourth.
Kayton Harris finished with 22 points for Kennett (2-8). She had all but two of the Indians' 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Doniphan 58, New Madrid Central 53
After not attempting a free throw in the third quarter, the Donettes were 8 for 11 from the line in the fourth to hold off New Madrid Central. Jakelyn Friend was 4 for 4 on free throws in the fourth quarter to lead Doniphan and finished with 11 points, eight of which was in the fourth.
Paige Eddington led Doniphan in scoring with 22 points. She had five points in the fourth quarter and did most of her damage in the middle of the game with nine points in the second quarter and eight more in the third. Eddington was 6 for 6 on free throws overall as Doniphan went 15 for 20 as a team.
Savanah Aaron added 11 points and Lexi Day got 10 to give Doniphan four players in double figures.
Charleston 69, Greenville 49
The Bears were outscored 23-7 in the fourth quarter in the consolation semifinal at Twin Rivers.
McKenzie Miller led Greenville (3-8) with 24 points, but had just one point in the fourth quarter. Tristin Porter added 10 points. The Bears had seven points in the fourth quarter compared to Charleston's 23.
BOYS BASKETBALL
BERNIE 62, NAYLOR 22
The Mules improved to 8-0 Thursday with a road win against Naylor, sinking eight 3-pointers.
Hunter Slavings paced Bernie with 17 points including five 3-pointers. Nate Dillinger had 15 points and Mike Suiter had 12.
Zeke Ward led Naylor with 11 points.
