SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Poplar Bluff's 200-yard freestyle relay earned a ticket to the state championships Saturday as Audrey Cisne, Paige Bradley, Raegan McAtee and Taylor Norwood had their fastest time of the season at the Springfield Invitational.

Norwood won the butterfly in 58.69 seconds and placed second in the individual medley by just 0.21 of a second.

Bradley and Peyton Moore earned consideration for state in the dive, meaning if they finish the season in the top 32 they will get an invitation, a first for a Poplar Bluff diver. Bradley finished sixth with 330.3 points while Moore finished 12th at 295.3.

As a team, Poplar Bluff finished sixth with 136 points, 19 behind Notre Dame de Sion of Kansas City. Lafayette won by by 112 points over Glendale while Rock Bridge was third at 264.

The Mules were seventh in the 200-freestyle relay in 1:45.66 and fifth in the medley relay.

McAtee was seventh in the backstroke at 1:03.41 and placed fifth in the 50 freestyle at 25.7 swimming in the second-to-last heat while Bradley was 14th at 26.24.

WRESTLING

Tanner Dunivan placed fifth in his weight class Saturday at the Kyle Thrasher Tournament at Francis Howell High School.

The Poplar Bluff senior won two matches after being knocked out in the quarterfinals, including a 1-0 win, then lost his consolation semifinal 4-0 before winning 6-0 over DeSmet's Trevor Tinker in the fifth-place match.

The Mules placed 21st in the 36-team tournament that coach Kelton Thompson called a "mini state tournament."

Andrew Dugas lost his 160-pound quarterfinal by pin but reached the fourth round of the consolation bracket before losing. Jake Lawrinenko and John Smothers each reached the fourth round, or the final 12.

At the SEMO Conference JV championships, Xavier Bartlett and Cole Christian each won their weight class.
