Three runs in the first inning were all Lee's Summit West (7-2) needed to secure a 5-2 win over Poplar Bluff in the Ozark Fall Festival. The Mules dropped their second game of their doubleheader. Lauren Alexander's performance was once again a silver lining for the Mules (5-4). This time, she hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. Alexander pitched the whole game for Poplar Bluff, allowing three earned runs and six hits.
The Mules also lost 4-0 to Kickapoo (5-1) to open the festival. Lauren Alexander was a bright spot in the Mules' offense, lining a double into left field in the fourth and a single to shortstop in the sixth. Alexander tallied two of Poplar Bluff's five hits.

Poplar Bluff 2
Poplar Bluff took the early lead when Xander Martin scored off a corner kick from Nik Rowland. Cape Central tied it up with a penalty kick 30 seconds before halftime.
In the second half, Rowland was hurt with an ankle injury and missed the rest of the game. Cape Central took the lead on a backside run that put home a cross from the wing.
Down 3-1, Martinscored off another corner kick with 10 minutes remaining, this one from Wyatt Rowland. Justin Moses made 10 saves for teh Mules.
"We made a late run, just ran out of time for us," Poplar Bluff coach Rusty Crafton said.

Mya White had a hand in both of Poplar Bluff's winning matches on Thursday in Cape Girardeau. White won her No. 2 singles match 8-3 and then teamed up with Megan Murphy to win the No. 2 doubles match 9-7.
Poplar Bluff won at least one game in every match.
Sara Holland lost the No. 1 singles match 8-5. She and Clarissa Varner lost the No. 1 doubles match by the same margin.
Clarisaa Varner lost No. 3 singles 8-4 while Murphy and Annaleese Williams both lost the No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches 8-2. Simone Anders, who had the Mules' only winning game Wednesday against Farmington, lost the No. 6 singles match 8-3. Williams and Anders lost the No. 3 doubles match 8-1.
Thursday's games
BASEBALL
Bernie 8, Woodland 7
A fast start allowed Bernie to overcome five errors and hold on for a win against Woodland. Josh Vaughn scored three runs on the day as Bernie entered the sixth inning with an 8-3 lead. Woodland tried to spark a comeback but fell just short, scoring four runs in the final two innings. Wyatt Barnett led the Mules with three hits, while Vaughn, Jaden McGowen and Landon Zoll each tallied two RBIs. Both teams had opportunities to pack the scoreboard with a lot more runs. Bernie (7-2) left nine on base, and Woodland (3-4) stranded 10.
Campbell 7, East Carter 5
Five different Campbell players eclipsed two hits en route to a win over East Carter. Charles Parker led the Camels with two runs scored, while Jacob Hankins and Ben Barnett drove in two apiece. Campbell (6-2) finished the day with 11 hits, while East Carter (6-3) tallied just four despite a late comeback surge that fell just short. Hankins got the start on the mound, striking out four and giving up four hits. Jacob Vines tossed the last inning and didn't allow a hit.
Senath-Hornersville 13, Bloomfield 3, 6 inn
Both teams totaled as many hits as they did runs, but Senath-Hornersville scored a run in every inning to earn the double-digit win. Jose Andrade and Blaze Mears sent homers over the fence. Mears knocked a two-run shot out in the fourth, and Andrade hit a solo homer in the sixth as the Lions (4-3) kept stretching their lead while the Wildcats (0-10) had no answer. Fernando Meza led the way with three RBIs on the day, and both teams stranded 10 runners.
Ellington 11, Greenville 6
A six-run fourth inning lifted Ellington over Greenville Thursday. Ellington recorded 14 hits in the game, while Greenville (6-3) had 10, including two doubles from Tye Huff. Greenville committed four fielding errors, and Ellington (7-3) had two of its own.
SOFTBALL
Doniphan 4, Dora 2
Doniphan kept rolling and stayed undefeated with a win over Dora. It was an unconventional win for the Donettes (7-0), who secured the victory despite getting just one hit on the day. Dora tallied seven hits. All four Doniphan runs were scored in the fifth inning, starting with an error by Dora (8-3). A fielder's choice to first base scored the second, and Jaylin Dutton drove in two runs with a double.
