PARK HILLS, Mo. -- Lexi Hafford, Krisman Eakin and Kaylee Eakin won Saturday at the MSHSAA Class 5 District 1 track and field meet but the Mules couldn't catch the Flyers.

Lindbergh won eight events to take the team title with 192.5 points. Poplar Bluff followed at 125, beating Jackson by five points, with three event wins.

Hafford won the 100-meter hurdles, placed second in the high jump but missed the sectional cut in the 300 hurdles at the end of a long, hot day.

"(Khelie) Spence and Lexi went out to race in the hurdles, that was an awesome race," Mules coach Beth Lewis-Muse said of the 100 hurdles.

Hafford won in 15.7 seconds followed by Spence in 15.76 to advance to the sectional meet next week at Marquette High School in St. Louis County. Hafford advanced by placing second in a tightly-contested high jump at 4-8, but finished fifth in the 300 hurdles after having the second-fastest time in the prelims. Her time of 49.68 was 0.16 of a second behind the final advancing spot. Spence placed 11th in 54.29.

Krisman Eakin won the 400 in 1:00.27 and advanced by placing second in the 100 at 12.58 and 200 at 25.83.

Kaylee Eakin won the long jump at 16-feet, 7.25-inches.

"I think the girls went in with a really good attitude," Lewis-Muse said.

Shelby Sievers placed second in the shot at 37-2, just 4 inches behind the winning throw from Nicole Humphreys of Jackson. Sievers threw 96-4 in the discus to advance in fourth place.

Poplar Bluff's 400 and 800 relays advanced by placing second. Spence, Secret Buchanan, Lexi Tinsley and Kaylee Harris ran in both events, finishing in 50.65 and 1:48.23.

Harris was fourth in the 400 at 27.11, taking the final spot by 0.11 of a second. She missed advancing in the 100 by 0.06 of a second, running at 12.98 in the final after a 12.92 in the prelim.

Katie Sliger placed fourth in the 1600 at 5:43, beating Audrey May of Northwest by 8.82 seconds for the final spot. Sliger was sixth in the 800 at 2:37.

Katelyn Moeller was sixth in the 3200 at 13:07 while Abby Gregory was eighth in the 400 at 1:07.85.

Calli Gerber finished fifth in the javelin Friday with a throw of 82-6, missing the cut by just under 2 feet. Gerber was sixth in the discus at 90-2 and threw 26-11 in the shot for 12th.

In the high jump, Paige Bradley also cleared 4-8 with Hafford but missed out on a jump-off for the final spot. Bradley made 4-8 on her final attempt while three others only needed two attempts, then jumped for the final spot. Hafford and Jackson's Lauryn Varner both cleared the bar on their first attempt to advance.
