WINONA Mo. -- Makenna Moore threw a no-hitter for the Redbirds and added a home run and two RBIs as East Carter opened its season with an 18-2 win over Winona. Maddyson Holloway was 4 for 4 with a home urn and six RBIs while Naomi Crowley was 4 for 5 with four RBIs.

Naylor 11, Portageville 7

Maddi Cagle was 3 for 3 with three runs as the Eagles opened their spring season with a solid win.

Trailing 4-1 after the first inning, Naylor settled in and scored eight runs in the third to take a 10-4 lead.

Calli Pickrell, signed to play at Three Rivers College next year, was 2 for 4, as was Rikki Spargo. Alyssa Urich pitched and allowed nine hits and a walk with one strikeout.

Scott Central 3

Alyson Marcum had a three run home run for the Mules and 11 strikeouts to get the win in the circle.

Makayla Turner and Cymber Arnold were 2 for 3 for Bernie.

Ellington 14,

Summersville 4

Kyra Moyers had nine strikeouts and Lourien Mahler drove in four runs for the Whippets.

JV GOLF

The Mules finished second in a four-team match at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson. Keaton Carr shot 9-over 44 to lead Poplar Bluff while J. Michael Greenwall (51), Cady Ashton (52) and Trey Montgomery (56) also scored. Jackson beat the Mules 167-203 followed by Notre Dame (224) and Sikeston (246).
