As the weather warms, many people may begin to think more about enjoying the outdoors.

One of the biggest attractions is fishing. Crappie anglers should be aware of the new regulations for Wappapello Lake. The new regulation states that anglers can keep 30 crappie total, but only 15 can be 9 inches or longer.

So, this means anglers can keep 15 under 9 inches and 15 which are 9 inches or longer. Or, they may keep 30 fish under 9 inches.

Regulations for crappie caught below the Wappapello lake dam have not changed.

Black bass anglers should keep in mind the regulations for such species. The length limit for black bass for most streams south of the Missouri river is 12 inches.

Black bass season will remain closed until the fourth Saturday in May for streams south of highways 60 and 67.

The daily limit for all black bass species is six in the aggregate, except as provided in the Wildlife Code of Missouri.

Daily limits for catfish include 10 Channel catfish, five blue catfish, and five flathead catfish. There is also no length limit established except as provided in the Wildlife Code.
