LESTERVILLE, Mo. -- Cody Hampton belted a home run and drove in a pair of runs, leading the East Carter baseball team to a 5-2 win over Lesterville on Thursday.
Dalton Rudd added an RBI double and scored twice while Drew Asher also doubled and went 3 for 4. Alex Kearbey also doubled and Wyatt Elliot was 2 for 3 with a run scored for East Carter (15-5).
Jake Andrews got the start on the mound and struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings. He walked five while allowing two runs on three hits. Elliott pitched a scoreless 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts.
SOFTBALL
East Carter 4, Saxony 1
Makenna Moore provided the only two hits and tossed a complete-game five-hitter to lead the Lady Redbirds over the host Crusaders.
Moore went 2 for 3 with two runs scored in the first and fourth innings to give East Carter (11-9) the lead for good. Naomi Crowley and Brooklyn Loftis drew a pair of walks and also scored.
Moore struck out six, walked one and only gave up a run in her victory in the circle.
VOLLEYBALL
Twin Rivers 2, Puxico 0
(25-14, 25-19)
Hannah Finley nailed seven kills and an ace as the Royals avoided a third-set scare from the host Indians to win their seventh in eight games.
Brooke Blume added four kills, 17 digs and two blocks, Catey Hester had 25 digs and Hannah Phillips chipped in 14 assists and two aces. Katelyn South had seven digs and Katie Baxter had five blocks for Twin Rivers (19-4-2).
Bloomfield 2, Bernie 1
(25-12, 27-29, 25-12)
Jewell Chism had 16 kills and 17 digs for Bloomfield while Bailey Below added 12 kills, eight digs and four blocks.
Nicole Roper finished with 32 assists while Kaley Roper added three aces and 27 digs. Creylee Huddleston got eight digs, Lilly Warrick had four kills and four digs and Cayla Mayberry finished with seven kills.
Malden 2, Gideon-Risco 0 (25-14, 25-19)
Kydia Harris had five aces and 25 assists while Lexi Campbell added two kills and four digs.
Gracie Thomas finished with four blocks as the Green Wave won their second straight to improve to 19-7-1.
