Van Buren put on a show against Bakersfield Wednesday in the Class 1 District 1 Tournament Quarterfinals. Hailie Hampton pitched all six innings and threw a one-hitter, striking out four in a solid defensive effort from the Lady Dawgs. The offense did its job behind three hits, two of which were doubles, and four RBIs from Brooke Jackson. Gracie Chilton added three hits and scored a pair of runs.
(3) Doniphan 12, (6) Fredericktown 2, 6 inn
The Donettes advanced to the Class 3 District 1 Semifinal with a balanced, commanding effort from their offense and defense. Kaylee Davis struck out 11 and allowed two runs -- one earned -- in six innings. Lexi Day led the way with three RBIs, two of which came on a double in the third inning for Doniphan's first pair of runs. Jaylin Dutton led the team with three hits.
