JEFFERSON CITY -- Greenville's Tye Huff became Greenville's first All-State track and field athlete since its started up three years ago after he finished eighth in the javelin with a throw of 143-feet, 10-inches at the MSHSAA Class 2 State Championship on Saturday in Jefferson City, just short of his personal record of 148 feet.
Kate Bangert, a three-time state qualifier in cross country, qualified for state in the 1600-meter run and finished 13th with a time of 5 minutes, 52.29 seconds. Bangert's personal best in the 1600 is 5:44.96, which like Huff, was set at districts where they both took first place.
TRAP
Six members of the Poplar Bluff trap team took first place at the Black River Trap and Skeet Club competition.
TJ Abney took first in the Junior Gold Division for both 16-yard singles and doubles. Hunter Seal was first in the Junior Division for 16-yard singles while Dylan Hale was first in the A Division in 16-yard singles. Hunter Turner took first the B Division in 16-yard singles, Andrew Miller was first in the C Division 16-yard singles and Taylor Hillis placed first in doubles.
