WOODLAND, Mo. -- Three players had multiple hits and the third-seeded Greenville softball team made quick work of No. 6 Oak Ridge with an 11-1 win in five innings in the MSHSAA Class 1 District 5 quarterfinals Tuesday. Beth Bangert was 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs, McKenzie Miller went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI and Emilie O'Dell was 2 for 4 with two RBIs...

WOODLAND, Mo. -- Three players had multiple hits and the third-seeded Greenville softball team made quick work of No. 6 Oak Ridge with an 11-1 win in five innings in the MSHSAA Class 1 District 5 quarterfinals Tuesday.

Beth Bangert was 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs, McKenzie Miller went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI and Emilie O'Dell was 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Tristin Porter also added a double and an RBI while Zee Luke singled and Jaden Francis drove in a run.

Emilie O'Dell gave up three hits, walked two and had one strikeout to get the win in the circle. The Lady Bears (8-7) face No. 2 Woodland in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Meadow Heights 7, Ellington 5

Mollie Welker drove in two runs as the fifth-seeded Panthers came away with the upset over the fourth-seeded Whippets in a MSHSAA Class 1 District 5 quarterfinal.

Leianna Bollinger was the winning pitcher for Meadow Heights (6-6). She threw three innings and gave up four earned runs on four hits. She walked six batters and recorded two strikeouts as the Panthers advanced to today's semifinal with top-seeded Clearwater.

Shelby Lacey went the distance in the circle to suffer the loss for Ellington. She allowed seven earned runs, walked six and struck out four as the Whippets wrapped up their season with a record of 3-9.

BASEBALL

East Carter 7, Lesterville 0

Cody Hampton combined on a one-hitter as the top-seeded Redbirds rolled past the fourth-seeded Bearcats in the Black River League Tournament semifinals.

Cody Hampton started and struck out 11 in 6 1/3 innings. He allowed one hit and walked two in the win. Drew Assher walked one but got the final two outs with a pair of strikeouts in his 2/3 scoreless innings.

The junior also went 1 for 3 with an RBI. Colton Stephens drove in two runs while Daloton Rudd, Corby Seib and Cody Hampton each had a hit for East Carter (12-3).

Clearwater 2, Ellington 1

Tanner Wilkins drove in a pair of go-ahead runs in the top of the 10th inning as the third-seeded Tigers upset the second-seeded Whippets in the Black River League Tournament semifinals.

Wilkins was 2 for 4, Heath Ayers chipped in three hits while Stephen Martino and Jessie Holmes each had two for Clearwater (8-7), which finished with 11.

The Tigers also pounded out 10 hits to beat No. 6 Viburnum 13-0 in five innings in a quarterfinal.

Stephen Martino finished with four RBIs on a pair of doubles and struck out six in three innings to get the win.

East Prairie 8, Bernie 7

The Mules scored seven runs off seven hits and seven walks. Seven different batters scored. Nate Dillinger had two hits and Jayce Burk had two RBIs.

Blake Beacham pitched four innings in the loss and allowed 10 hits and two walks with one strikeout. Three of the eight runs against him were earned. Gavin Brown pitched te final two innings and didn't give up a hit. He allowed one walk with two strikeouts.
