CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- The Dexter Bearcats erupted for 28 first-quarter points Monday night and rolled to a 73-50 SEMO Conference road victory over Notre Dame.
"We really came out of the gate playing well the first quarter," Dexter coach Chad Allen said. "Struggled offensively in the second quarter. I thought we played much better defense in the second half to seal the win."
The Bearcats (16-3, 3-1 SEMO) led 28-17 after one quarter but were held to eight points in the second and took a 36-27 lead into halftime. Dexter held a 37-23 scoring edge in the second half.
Dexter's Chaylea Mosby scored a game-high 35 points, including seven 3-pointers. She added seven rebounds and a team-high five steals.
Rylee Allen, Maycie Martin and Natalie Sitze just missed double-doubles for Dexter. Allen had nine points and 11 rebounds. Martin had nine points and nine rebounds and Sitze had nine points and 11 assists.
Megan Heisserer paced Notre Dame (10-12, 2-4 SEMO) with 15 points, and Lexi Welter had 13.
Allen and Martin both fouled out for the second-straight game.
