DONIPHAN -- The Naylor Eagles scored four runs in the sixth inning Wednesday and beat the Doniphan Dons 8-7 in an Ozark Foothills Conference baseball game.
The Dons scored three runs in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead and three more in the third to go ahead 6-3. Both teams scored a run in the fifth.
Eli Roark secured the win, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts and three waks in six innings. Chance Smith struck out one and walked one in one inning to pick up the save.
Chance Donaldson was charged with the loss, allowing five runs (two earned) on four hits with no walks or strikeouts in one inning.
Roark went 3 for 3 with two RBIs to lead Naylor.
Alex Littrell went 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Doniphan, and Jacob Price went 2 for 4 with a double.
Fritts named SEMO Player of Year
Poplar Bluff's Turner Fritts was named baseball player of the year in the SEMO Conference, according to a vote of the league's coaches.
Five other Mules made the first team: designated hitter Noah Burkey, infielder Tyson Cox, outfielder Jaxson Huffman, catcher Mason Libla and pitcher Sam Pierce.
Steven Edwards was named coach of the year year, and two other players received honorable mentions: outfielder Kyler Carr and infielder Carson Webb.
SOFTBALL
All-District team
Four players from MSHSAA Class 1 District 3 champion Malden were named to the all-district softball team: Lexi Campbell, Hope Hartman, Lana Reed and Gracie Thomas.
Here's the rest of the all-district team:
Bernie: Taylor Anthony, Cymber Arnold, Cassidy Freed and Alyson Marcum.
Dexter: Demi Cecil, Chaylea Mosby and MeKenzie Yount.
Puxico: Vickie Burch, Bailey Burns, Kate Haynes and Kylie Moore.

SCAA All-Conference
Bernie pitcher Alyson Marcum leads the SCAA all-conference softball team.
Marcum, who was named the player of the year, was one of four players from conference tournament champion Bernie to make the team. The others are Cymber Arnold, Cassidy Freed and Makayla Turner.
