NEW MADRID -- New Madrid County Central's spread offense didn't waste any time Friday night adding to its impressive numbers while improving to 4-0 on the season.

The Eagles broke five long scoring plays ranging from 36 to 65 yards in the first quarter on the way to a 64-8 victory over the Doniphan Dons.

For the third time in four games, NMCC scored at least 50 points while preparing for Friday's Week 5 matchup with undefeated Hayti.

"New Madrid is a very talented football team. They are very fast but we've seen a lot of that with our early schedule," said Doniphan coach Jeremy Stout, who saw his first-year varsity team fall to 0-4.

The Dons' losses have come against Cabool, Thayer, Charleston and NMCC.

Entering Friday night, those four were a combined 10-2 with both losses (one each for Thayer and Charleston) coming against Hayti.

Doniphan avoided the shutout midway through the third quarter. Trey Mills connected with Max Torres on a halfback pass covering 26 yards for a touchdown. Quarterback Jordan White ran for the two-point conversion.

After forcing a Dons punt to start the game, the Eagles scored on their second offensive play with Kylan Minner running 45 yards with 9:15 left in the quarter.

Following another Dons punt, the Eagles covered 40 yards in two plays with quarterback Christen Phillips connecting with Johnnie Walker on a 37-yard touchdown pass.

Phillips was a perfect 7-for-7 passing for 138 yards and three TDs. NMCC also ran for 292 yards on 24 attempts.

Quazavion Jackson pushed the lead to 24-0 on a 65-yard run with 4:11 left in the opening quarter. Phillips connected with Austin Davis from 36 yards out to make it 32-0 with 2:01 on the clock then followed up with a 37-yard TD to Walker on the final play of the first quarter. Following a fifth straight successful two-point conversion the quarter ended with the Eagles in command 40-0.

Doniphan completed 3-of-11 passing attempts for 45 yards and rushed 32 times to net 53 yards. Sophomore fullback Kyle Reynolds led the Dons with 33 yards on seven carries. Torres caught three passes for 45 yards.

Sophomore Alex Harris, a starting linebacker, took his first snaps at quarterback for the Dons while splitting duties with junior Jordan White.

With three starters out with injuries, the Dons turned to several freshmen including cornerback Jordan Samonte and two-way lineman Dawson Bishop. On most snaps against the Eagles, the Dons had 3-4 freshmen on the field.

"We ask a lot of our freshmen," said Stout. "They are out here playing against very seasoned juniors and seniors. They are going to make mistakes but one of these days they are going to be seniors and I'm looking forward to that day."

Doniphan will play its third consecutive road game Friday at Dexter. The Bearcats (1-2) will be coming off an open date.
