DONIPHAN -- A once tight contest was busted wide open after the Doniphan softball team scored seven runs late to come away with a 12-5 win over Twin Rivers on Monday. Tied at 5-5 with no outs in the bottom of the sixth, senior Paige Eddington scorched a two-run home run on a line drive to center field to give Doniphan (8-3, 3-1 OFC) the lead for good. DONIPHAN -- A once tight contest was busted wide open after the Doniphan softball team scored seven runs late to come away with a 12-5 win over Twin Rivers on Monday.

Tied at 5-5 with no outs in the bottom of the sixth, senior Paige Eddington scorched a two-run home run on a line drive to center field to give Doniphan (8-3, 3-1 OFC) the lead for good. Hannah Ponder, Lexi Day, Madison Eddington and Kaylee Davis each had multiple hits for the Donettes.

Kaylee Davis went the distance to get the win for Doniphan. She struck out three and allowed five earned runs on six hits and five walks.

Madison Lampe doubled and scored twice for the Royals, who led 5-4 after 2 1/2 innings. Bella Galloway, Brittany Williams, Kaitlin Deken and Samantha McMahon added one hit apiece for Twin Rivers (1-7, 1-4).

Van Buren 12, Naylor 2

Three players had multiple hits as the Lady Dawgs scored eight runs in the opening frame and run-ruled the visiting Eagles in five innings Monday.

Jennifer Morey, Morgan Shockley and Courtney Tripp each had two hits while Morey and Tripp drove in a pair of runs each. Sydnee Sanders, Brooke Jackson, Hailie Hampton, Makenna Chilton, Logan Crafton and Jalynn Morgan chipped in an RBI apiece for Van Buren (9-3).

Morgan went the distance in the circle, giving up just three hits on 64 pitches. She walked one and did not record a strikeout in the win.

East Carter 10, Cape Central 2

Brooklyn Loftis smashed a grand slam and Dara Shaffer added two RBIs to help lead the Redbirds to victory over the visiting Tigers.

Loftis was 2 for 2 with a run scored and a walk. Shaffer scored twice and went 2 for 4 while Bailey Gargac had three hits and an RBI for East Carter (6-6).

Makenna Moore went the distance in the circle to get the win for the Redbirds. She gave up two unearned runs with five strikeouts and four walks.

BASEBALL

Clearwater 4, Twin Rivers 0

Fynnegan Cooper tripled and scored and Jesse Holmes tossed a two-hitter as the Tigers picked up a key Ozark Foothills Conference victory over the Royals at home.

Holmes struck out 10 and walked four in six innings to get the win. He three 85 pitches -- 54 for strikes -- and got seven groudballs in the win for Clearwater (6-1, 3-0 OFC). Heath Ayers replaced him and struck out one in a scoreless seventh inning.

Holmes, Jackson Eaton and Tanner Wilkins each had a pair of hits while Karson Fay had a hit and an RBI for the Tigers.

Tanner Ledbetter had the only two hits for Twin Rivers (4-7, 1-3).

Bismarck 8, Greenville 2

The Bears were limited to five hits in a road loss to the Indians. Dylan Barks and Warren Willard each doubled while Jack Becker, Alex Hicks and Tye Huff added a hit apiece for Greenville (0-4).

Bernie 17, Puxico 4

Wyatt Barnett gave up three hits and two walks and struck out five in his complete-game win for Bernie (10-1). Dalton Hobgood went 4 for 4 with four runs and three RBIs for the Mules, and was a home run away from the cycle. Gavin Brown was 3 for 4 with four runs and four RBIs and had a triple.

VOLLEYBALL

Twin Rivers 2, Portageville 0 (25-20, 25-21)

Brooke Blume finished with 10 kills and Hannah Finley added six as the Royals took down the Bulldogs in straight sets at home.

Hannah Phillips had 11 assists, Katelyn South chipped in 11 digs three kills and a block, and Olivia Douglas had 10 digs for Twin Rivers (10-3-1).

Bloomfield 2, Sikeston 0 (25-10, 25-7)

Bailey Below had five blocks and Cayla Mayberry got three for the Lady Wildcats. Below also finished with 10 kills to lead Bloomfield. Jewell Chism had five aces to go with four kills and six digs. Kaley Roper led the defense with 10 digs while setter Nicole Roper had 18 assists and two aces.

Dexter 2, Woodland 0

(25-22, 25-19)

Bailee Williams finished with 30 assists, four aces, two blocks, two kills and five digs as the Lady Bearcats picked up their third Stoddard County Activities Association win in the past week.

Hannah Thurmon led Dexter (11-4) led Dexter with 14 kills to go with two aces, five blocks and eight digs. Addie Kruse added 10 kills, a block and three digs.

Libero Megan Trout had 17 digs to lead Dexter and Rhylan Hillis had 10.

Dexter finished with a 97 serving percentage and a 37.2 hitting percentage. It also had nine team blocks and 35 kills.

Malden 2, Oran 1

(25-18, 21-25, 25-12)

Coming off a championship at the Dig for Life Challenge, the Green Wave gutted out a three-set win over the Eagles at home.

Madi Earnhears had 10 kills, Lexi Campbell added five digs, Gracie Thomas had five blocks and Tanner Miller chipped in 47 assists for Malden (14-1-1).
