Police in Poplar Bluff handled various incidents on Feb. 1, including arrests for narcotics, resisting arrest, and outstanding warrants. They also addressed domestic disputes, thefts, and traffic violations.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop Saturday, Feb. 1, near Harper Street and Highway 67, at which time the driver fled from police. A short time later, officers located the vehicle and two subjects a short distance from the vehicle. Officers also located several baggies of suspected narcotics where the subjects walked as well as matching foot prints. Chloe Chaffin, 20, of Poplar Bluff, and Atari Amos, 42, of Poplar Bluff, were placed under arrest, transported and lodged at the Butler County jail. Charges for distribution of cocaine,possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest were sent to the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers were dispatched Saturday, Feb. 1, to the 400 block of Main Street in reference to a domestic dispute. Both parties advised it was only a verbal argument. Both were advised of the Missouri 12-hour rule and how to obtain an order of protection.

Officers were dispatched Saturday, Feb. 1, to the 400 block of North 10th Street on two separate occasions in reference to a violation of an order of protection. Upon arrival, officers were advised the reporting party’s ex, Malik Monroe, 28, of Poplar Bluff, had been at the residence but left prior to the officer’s arrival. Two charges for violation of an order of protection were sent to the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office for both occasions due to an active order of protection being in place.

Officers conducted a check for vagrants Saturday, Feb. 1, on a forested city lot inside city limits due to the owner not wanting anyone trespassing on the property. Jada Cora, 36, of Poplar Bluff, and Travis Cora, 42, of Poplar Bluff, were located on the property. Both were trespassed from the property and issued summons for trespassing.

Officers were dispatched Saturday, Feb. 1, to the 300 block of Midland Street in reference to property damage of a vehicle. There are no leads at this time.

Officers took a report Saturday, Feb. 1, via the phone, in reference to a theft report. The reporting party advised she noticed a key fob and aux cord was missing from her vehicle. There are no leads at this time.

Officers made contact Saturday, Feb. 1, with Korey Whitworth, 19, of Poplar Bluff, in the 1900 block of North 5th Street in reference to active Butler County warrants. Whitworth was placed under arrest and transported to the Butler County jail where he was lodged.

Officers attempted to make contact with two subjects Saturday, Feb. 1, who were riding bicycles, and riding on the wrong side of the road in front of the officer’s patrol vehicle, and did not stop at the stop signs at several intersections. Jesse Thurner, 37, of Poplar Bluff, fled on his bicycle and on foot, before being apprehended by officers. Thurner and Travis Mangrum, 45, of Poplar Bluff, were issued summons for the traffic violations. Thurner was arrested on resisting charges and outstanding Butler County warrants. Thurner was transported to the Butler County jail where he was lodged.

Officers were dispatched Saturday, Feb. 1, to the Butler County jail in reference to an assault report. While taking the reporting party’s statement, officers became aware the reporting party, identified as Jeremy Stevenson, 36, of Poplar Bluff, had active Butler County warrants. Stevenson was placed under arrest and lodged at the Butler County jail.

Officers took a report Saturday, Feb. 1, for identity theft at the front desk of the police department. At this time there are no leads.

Officers responded Saturday, Feb. 1, to the 300 block of Victor Street in reference to a peace disturbance. While on the scene, officers discovered one of the parties involved had active warrants through Poplar Bluff City. Hayley Johns, 36, of Poplar Bluff was placed under arrest and transported to the police station where she posted bond.

Officers responded Saturday, Feb. 1, to the 200 block of East Pine Street in reference to threats. Neither party wished to pursue charges. The parties were advised of the 12-hour rule and how to obtain an order of protection.

Officers were dispatched Saturday, Feb. 1, to the 1300 block of North Westwood Boulevard in reference to an irate subject. One party had left the scene prior to officer’s arrival. The other was trespassed from the property at the request of the business.

Officers were dispatched Saturday, Feb. 1, to the Black River Coliseum parking lot in reference to someone leaving the scene of an accident. At this time the other vehicle and driver information is unknown.
