BLOOMFIELD — W.R. ‘Bill’ Smith, 91, of Puxico, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Dec. 15, 1927 in Sturdivant, Mo. to the late Estill and Naoma Sparkman Smith. BLOOMFIELD — W.R. ‘Bill’ Smith, 91, of Puxico, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Dec. 15, 1927 in Sturdivant, Mo. to the late Estill and Naoma Sparkman Smith.

Mr. Smith served in the United States Marine Corps at the end of WW II and later retired from the Frisco Railroad. He lived most of his life in the Puxico area, farming and feeding cattle.

Mr. Smith leaves behind three sons and a daughter, Will (Jaime) Smith of Frankston, Texas, Janet (Marc) Ciarniello of Cape Girardeau, David (Diane) Smith of Puxico and Tom (Sandy) Smith of Waynesville, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Stacie (Chad) Cordell of Overland Park, Kans., Sylvia (Dalton) Avery of Republic, Mo., Gina (Jamie) Johnson of O’Fallon, Mo., Paula Ciarniello of St. Louis, Danielle (Blake) Worthy of Puxico, Cynthia (Justin Engram) Smith of Wappapello, Matthew (Becky) Smith of Ozark, Mo. and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services with full military honors will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Art Norris officiating.

Morgan Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico is in charge of arrangements.
