ORAN, Mo. — Wilma Gosche Metz, 101, of Oran, Missouri, went to be with her Lord Oct. 16, 2020. She passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born Nov. 27, 1918, in Bleda (Caney), Missouri, daughter of Tony and Ida Dannenmueller Gosche. She and Jerome Metz were married May 27, 1941, at Guardian Angel Church in Oran. He passed away March 14, 1990...

ORAN, Mo. — Wilma Gosche Metz, 101, of Oran, Missouri, went to be with her Lord Oct. 16, 2020. She passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends.

She was born Nov. 27, 1918, in Bleda (Caney), Missouri, daughter of Tony and Ida Dannenmueller Gosche. She and Jerome Metz were married May 27, 1941, at Guardian Angel Church in Oran. He passed away March 14, 1990.

Mrs. Metz was a homemaker and later worked part-time at the Oran Post Office with her husband. She was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, and a member of St. Ann Sodality. She loved to play cards and taught each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren to play Rummy. Wilma also enjoyed following the St. Louis Cardinals and kept her own scorecard while watching them on TV. She will be remembered for her unconditional love for her family, extended family and her faith; her positive, fun nature; and, of course, her beautiful blue eyes and sweet smile.

Loving survivors include one son, Don (Sally) Metz of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; a niece she raised, Marlene (Robert) Bell of New Hamburg, Missouri; three grandchildren, Todd (Stacey) Metz of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Katherine (Aaron) Johnson of Fort Collins, Colorado and Kristen (Justin) Friedly of Fort Collins; 10 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Mallory Metz of Hattiesburg, Ian, Lucy, Nora and Stella Johnson of Fort Collins, and Brynnan, Kaelyn, Avery and McKinley Friedly of Fort Collins. Also surviving are many step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Jerome; brothers, John, Zeno and Harold Gosche; sisters, Nora Gosche Pobst, Irmina Gosche Pobst, Corona Gosche Feurhahn and an infant sister; and her parents.

The family extends a special thank you to all those who helped enable Wilma to remain in her home these last few years, especially the Carolyn Tenkhoff family, Donna Anderson, Elnora Porter, Carol Beussink, Janet Berendzen and Wilma’s hospice caregivers.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. with Knights of Columbus prayers following.

A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran with the Rev. Joseph Kelly and Rev. Normand Varone as concelebrants.

Interment will follow in the Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery in Oran.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Guardian Angel Catholic Church or School.
