DONIPHAN, Mo. -- Wilburn C. Hodo, Sr., 70, of Grandin, Mo., died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at his home.
Mr. Hodo, son of Herbert and Irene (Gibson) Hodo, was born Aug. 9, 1941, in Ripley County, Mo., and was a graduate of Grandin High School.
He retired Aug. 31, 1998, from the Missouri Department of Transportation after 32 years of service. Prior to this, he was employed at Railway Express in St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Hodo was a member of the Grandin Masonic Lodge and a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
On July 1, 1972, he was married to Deborah R. Northum in Ripley County. She survives.
Other survivors include one brother, Kenneth E. Hodo of Grandin; two daughters, Tammy Montavy of Highlandville, Mo., and Lorie Cox of Grovetown, Ga.; one son, Wilburn Hodo, Jr. of Doniphan, Mo.; two uncles who gave their lifelong support, Wayne (and Alice) Gibson of Granite City, Ill., and Raymond Hodo of Grandin; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan with a Masonic Service taking place at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Brothers Pete Joplin and Jerry Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Joplin Cemetery.
