ARNOLD — It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Wanda Gholson of Arnold, Missouri, on Aug. 16, 2020 at the age of 79 years.
Wanda was born, March 15, 1941, in War, West Virginia to parents Kermit and Nettie Buchanan. She relocated to Poplar Bluff, Missouri, after marriage to Kenneth Gholson in 1962. She then moved to Arnold, Missouri, in 1986 to continue her career and retired from Southwestern Bell in 1995, after 35 years. She devoted her life to her children and the First Baptist Church of Arnold.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by son Kenneth (Butch) Gholson, three brothers and four sisters.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters; Carol (Gholson) Thorn and son-in-law, Jeff Thorn of Wichita, Kansas, and Lisa Gholson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and grandchildren Brian and Shelby Gholson and Justin and Nellee Gholson of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Brittney Thorn of Broomfield, Colorado, Megan Thorn of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and great-grandchildren Meah, Jayden, Carson, Camden, Areiah and (Brynley).
She will be dearly missed by her good friends Charlotte Gholson and Shirley Arning and members of the First Baptist Church of Arnold.
Visitation is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, at the Fitch-Hillis Chapel, with the funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. and officiated by Pastor Ray Frazier.
