Verla Mae Davis of Poplar Bluff, MO passed from this life at the age of 91 on November 1, 2017 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at St. Bernard's in Jonesboro, AR surrounded by her loving family.
Verla was best known for her superior culinary skills at the Broadway Café in Poplar Bluff that she co-owned and co-managed during the 1950s and 1960s. Her life was devoted to her family. Her many descendants hope that they can carry on her legacy of extraordinary love, sharing, grace, acceptance, honesty, strength, and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Davis, daughter Judy Holloway, parents Ed and Alta Davidson, brothers Joe Davidson and Edward Lee Davidson, sisters Velma Brown, Verna Ketcherside, Veda Mayes, and Laura Marie Hamm.
She is survived by brothers Charles Davidson of Chicago, IL and Dave Davidson of Poplar Bluff, MO; sister Mary Lou Ward of Fredericktown, MO; daughters Deloris Bennett (Ron, deceased) of Jonesboro, AR, Doris Tucker (Lloyd) of Burnet, TX, Janice Pitts (Raymond) of Washington, DC and Patty Robinson of Poplar Bluff; son Aaron Davis (Jennifer) of Benton, AR; and sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 4th at Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff, MO. The Rev. Jim Schremp will officiate.
